Beginning in mid-2000, AMJ commenced two high profile re-developments in Gainesville, FL. The Commerce Center project consists of an award winning, four story, 66,000 sq. ft. classical style office building, on the site of the old Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and adjacent to City Hall, together with forty-five southern style urban town homes. In early fall of 2000, AMJ broke ground on Plaza Royale, a 100,000+ sq. ft. mixed use retail, office and residential redevelopment on 12 acres near the University of Florida.
This award winning lifestyle center was completed in 2003, and has quickly become a standard for urban retail development in the Gainesville area. A 206 unit class A multifamily project in a joint venture with another Gainesville developer was completed in 2002 and has achieved a high level of occupancy.
